Part-Time Public Services Supervisor reports to the Head of Public Services and assists in all duties that facilitate the functions of Public Services. This position will support the University Library's functions by assisting with various tasks related to its operations.

Essential duties:

  • Assists with:
    • The management of Public Services, including the hiring and supervision of 15-17 student assistants for user service duties.
    • Supervision of library operations, student assistants, and the facility, including assisting patrons and responding to any emergency in the building.
    • Managing library stacks and shifting projects.
    • Managing records and statistics that are essential to the department.
  • Cross-trained in library services to support library assistants and provide top-notch customer service.

Qualifications:

  • Requires an Associate's degree or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of Academic library experience required, and prefers a Bachelor's degree with significant experience in Public Services in an Academic setting
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience in an academic library preferred 

Candidates must have:

  • Ability to use and teach computer skills
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, push loaded carts, shelve heavy books, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some night and weekend hours.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to give attention to detail
