Major Function/Purpose of the Position:

The Copywriter at Regent University plays a vital role in advancing the university’s mission by crafting compelling, brand-consistent, high-quality written content that communicates Regent’s values, academic excellence, and Christ-centered identity. This position is responsible for developing strategic messaging across a variety of platforms—including print, digital, and web to engage prospective students, donors, alumni, and other key audiences. The role involves integrating improvements from testing results and analysis to create results-driven approaches to copy. This role will work collaboratively with creative team members and assigned clients across the university.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and write clear and engaging copy for a wide range of media, including web pages, email campaigns, brochures, digital ads, video scripts, and print collateral.
  • Ensure all written content aligns with Regent University’s brand voice, values, and Christ-centered mission.
  • Assist in message development that communicates Regent’s unique value proposition.
  • Develop content specific to each medium, integrating improvements from testing results and analysis.
  • Apply proficient knowledge of AP style and editorial best practices to maintain consistency and quality across all communications.
  • Collaborate with the creative team on marketing campaigns and other designated assignments.
  • Maintain a strong and relevant voice among institutional peers in higher education.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining a high standard of excellence.
  • Edit and proofread copy created by other writers or departments for grammar, clarity, tone, and brand alignment.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining the Brand Guide and Value Propositions Spreadsheet to ensure the most up-to-date information is captured.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of professional copywriting experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent professional experience
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Proficient in AP style
  • Experience writing for digital marketing platforms
  • Familiarity with inbound marketing tactics and lead generation
  • Results-oriented with the ability to organize and independently manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective time-management and prioritization skills estimating appropriate time for tasks and deliverables to consistently meet deadlines
  • Organizational skills, professionalism, and a creative team player mentality
  • Portfolio and/or samples demonstrating a range of voice, tone, and messaging strategies across different platforms and industries required
