Assistant Coach - Women's & Beach Volleyball
The Assistant Coach for Women's & Beach Volleyball will assists in overseeing all aspects of operating a successful college level intercollegiate athletic program. All responsibilities will be under the leadership of the Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics.
Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Essential Duties:
- Assist student-athletes in obtaining spiritual growth and track academic progress. Provide appropriate advice and assistance to help ensure the success of each student-athlete’s spiritual development and completed stated program of study
- Instruction of student-athletes – teaching sport-specific skills, tactics, and techniques required per team and individualized workouts, practices, and games
- Report any known or suspected violations of the NCAA and/or university rules by head coach, assistant coach(es), student-athletes, staff, etc. promptly to the Director of Athletics
- Assist in organizing and supervising all practices, games, and other workout sessions for the team. Assist head coach in the instruction and coaching of student athletes
- Evidence of a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations governing intercollegiate competition and adhere to the rules and standards established by NCAA
- Abide by and comply with the constitution, bylaws, and interpretations of the NCAA and university rules and regulations relating to the conduct and administration of the program
- Assist recruiting student-athletes who are mission fit, academically solid, and athletically skilled
- Adhere to, support, and follow the academic standards and requirements of the university regarding the recruiting and eligibility of prospective and current student-athletes
- Assist the head coach in promoting community service projects for the team to complete the mission of the NCAA, Regent Athletic Department and Regent University
- Assume other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- One or more years of successful high school, college, or private coaching experience is preferred
- Proven ability to communicate effectively one-on-one, in small groups, and in public speaking contexts
- Proven ability to communicate ideas and priorities effectively to promote teamwork and achieve desired results
- Demonstrated strategic planning skills and an ability to assess the team’s competitive strengths and vulnerabilities
- Demonstrated skill in making strategic recommendations to enhance the team’s performance
- Ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule
