Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA 

The Head of Fulfillment Services position provides innovative leadership and oversee all aspects of management and functions for the Fulfillment Services Department of Regent University Library, including Interlibrary Loan (ILL)/Holds, Document Delivery, and Digitization. This position reports to the Dean of the Library.

Essential duties:

  • Provide leadership and set priorities and goals for the Fulfillment Services department of the University Library
  • Identify trends, protocols and best practices and existing practices that require improvements to ensure that needed resources are available in a timely manner
  • Responsible for the overall supervision and management of all aspects of Interlibrary Loan, Holds/Document Delivery and Digitization
  • Responsible for the overall hiring, scheduling, training, supervision, and work evaluation of a full-time Supervisor position and 2 student workers
  • Oversees financial records and transactions pertaining to ILL
  • Maintain Fulfillment Services statistics and records
  • Oversees digital lending processes (manages sequestered and long-term lending)
  • Network with other libraries and build collaborative partnerships to extend Regent University’s interlibrary loan network

Qualifications:

  • Five years of library experience and a basic understanding of library operations in Fulfillment services
  • Appropriate academic library experience in Fulfillment Services is required
  • A minimum of three years of supervisory experience is required
  • Ability to use and teach computer skills
  • Ability to handle many records and meticulous routines with accuracy and orderliness
  • Ability to interpret library policies cheerfully, sympathetically, yet firmly to students, faculty, and staff
  • Stamina to work in an area that makes a myriad of demands on one’s time and energy
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some night and weekend hours
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with other people

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required

  • Ability to effectively convey ideas, information, and/or instruction to others
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
