Major Function/Purpose of Position:
The Employee Success Manager is responsible for helping to build and maintain a positive and productive employee culture aligned with University values through training, performance management, conflict management, and culture-building activities. This position will serve as first point of contact for supervisors and employees when personal, performance, behavioral, and interpersonal concerns or needs arise. This position will serve as a coach for success and guide supervisors and employees to appropriate resources.
Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Salary: $68K - $75K annually
Essential duties:
- Serve as initial point of contact for employee relations issues and concerns, coaching supervisors and employees through appropriate steps for resolution.
- Advise supervisors on employee relations and guide them through disciplinary and performance improvement steps according to policy and in consultation with the VP.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct trainings related to hiring/interviewing, performance management, supervisory skills, sexual harassment, etc. includes trainings with Vector and EAP. Develop and present additional training to meet University needs.
- Work with IT on required employee training and follow-up with supervisors/employees as needed for compliance.
- Conduct HR phone screenings with prospective employees to determine alignment with University values.
- Support supervisors with performance management, tracking, and communication, advising supervisors through the process.
- Conducts exit interviews and complete all exit communication and checklist steps in a timely manner.
- Serves as Title IX Investigator working in coordination with Title IX Coordinator.
- Addresses background check concerns with supervisor and/or the candidate.
- Assist with onboarding of new employees, ensuring required training is completed and advising on necessary resources and information, as needed, to ensure employees have a successful start within the first 30-90 days.
- Co-chair the FAITH Fund program to assist employees in a financial crisis.
- Manages HR events or represent HR to support campus-wide events, i.e. employee recognition/awards programs, Convocation, Christmas program, quarterly staff meetings.
- Manage Service Awards program and send out notices to employees and supervisors.
- Manage Employee Awards for Excellence Program/Presentations
- Coordinate ADA requests/needs in collaboration with Benefits Manager and VP of Human Resources when related to performance concerns.
- Stay current on all employment laws and updates to update policies as needed.
- Shall be ready, willing, and able to lead or contribute to Regent’s distinctly Christian activities, including worship and prayer services. Must be willing and equipped to perform other ministry activities such a leading devotions and Bible studies, giving communion, laying on of hands in prayer, providing spiritual ministry to other members of the community, sharing Regent’s religious beliefs with others, and modeling that everything one does is done “as to the Lord”.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, psychology, or related-field. SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.
- Candidate must have 3-5 years’ employee relations and/or mediation experience, in a higher education setting is preferred.
- Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of labor and employment law.
Candidates must have:
- Experience training and demonstrated presentation skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS databases, Microsoft Office programs, and multiple vendor systems or software programs is required
- Strong technology skills with experience using various HR software programs;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and professional demeanor in all communication.
- Ability to manage detailed databases and tracking mechanisms with utmost accuracy and thoroughness
