Regent University invites applications and nominations for the position of Law School Dean. Regent University is the nation’s premier Christian university with over 13,000 students studying in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and around the world. The Law School began in 1986 and currently has 310 students in our Juris Doctor (J.D.) program. We also offer the following degrees: an LL.M. in American Legal Studies, an LL.M. in Human Rights, an M.A. in Law, and a B.A. in Law.

The Law School is committed to five core values:

  1. Christ-Centered Community: Our professors and students support, encourage, and pray for each other. We seek to demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—in all we do.
  2. Truth: We don’t think law is just a competition among advocates – it is a search for truth and a way to live out a calling to serve a God who calls himself the way the truth and the life. We aspire to be a community of truth and learning. And we believe that as we pursue truth and knowledge—we not only become excellent lawyers—but also our spirits are refreshed and our minds are renewed.
  3. Servant Leadership: We seek to equip men and women to be leaders. But we want to train lawyers who are a particular type of leaders – servant leaders who make a difference in the lives of their clients and communities.
  4. Discipleship: We train servant leaders through discipleship. Professors invest in the lives of our students – shaping them as lawyers and followers of Christ.
  5. Advocacy: Regent Law seeks to train, inspire, and launch advocates into positions of service and influence around the world. Our Center for Constitutional Law trains advocates to protect free speech and religious liberty. Our Center for Global Justice prepares lawyers to advocate for those who are abused, oppressed, or enslaved around the world. Our pro bono clinic works with people who cannot afford a lawyer to ensure they have an advocate who can seek justice. We equip all students with hands-on skills training so that our graduates are both purpose-driven and practice-ready.

The Law School has experienced a remarkable renaissance in recent years, earning numerous accolades that underscore our commitment to academic excellence and professional outcomes. Here are some notable achievements:

  • Top 100 Law Schools: In April 2025, Regent Law achieved its highest ranking to date, breaking into the top 100 law schools in America at #94, marking a 53-place climb over four years—the fastest rise among all law schools during that period.
  • Best Value Private Law School: Ranked as the 3rd best-value private law school in the United States by the National Jurist’s preLaw magazine in October 2024, highlighting our strong employment rates, bar passage rates, and affordability.
  • Public Policy Program Excellence: Tied for 1st in the nation for Public Policy by preLaw magazine in 2024, reflecting the strength of our curriculum in this area and the work of the Center for Constitutional Law and the Center for Global Justice.

Regent University School of Law, motivated by the Christian character of the university of which it is an integral part, recognizes the inherent value and dignity of all members of the human family and celebrates diversity both within and among institutions. The School prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, gender, age, disability, military status or status as a veteran or disabled veteran. The School maintains its Christian character, but does not discriminate on the basis of religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression except to the extent that applicable law respects its right to act in furtherance of its religious objective. The School fully accepts the teaching of the traditional biblical view with regard to marriage, gender, and sexual conduct outside the bonds of matrimony.  Consistent with those teachings, the School does not discriminate purely on the basis of an individual’s professed sexual orientation or gender identity, but only with regard to accompanying conduct or other actions that undermine the University’s Christian character.  All Regent University employees and Regent Representatives are expected to share and model the religious commitments and beliefs set forth in the University’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community and Mission Policy.
