The Assistant Director of Honors Student Formation serves as a staff leader in the Regent University Honors College and a member of the Dean's leadership team. This role advises and represents the Dean in matters of student advising and formation, helps steward the Honors College's vision and makes operational decisions in advising, student experience, and cross-institutional coordination. The Assistant Director supervises the Honors College Advising Specialists, maintains a partial advising caseload, and serves as the authoritative voice on complex or exceptional student advising situations across the Honors College.
This is a leadership position that requires independent judgment, strategic thinking, and the confidence to represent the Honors College in institutional settings with delegated decision-making authority. The Assistant Director works as a collaborative peer alongside the Honors College faculty directors, contributing to the Dean's leadership team as a trusted advisor on student experience, advising strategy, and the ongoing development of the Honors College advising model. This position demands initiative, institutional fluency, and a deep commitment to student formation in a Christ-centered academic community.

Essential duties:
- Steward the mission of Regent University and the Honors College in all aspects of the role, ensuring that advising, programming, and student engagement reflect the university's commitment to Christian leadership, academic excellence, and the formation of students who pursue their callings with conviction and competence.
- Maintain a partial individual advising caseload of Honors College students, providing holistic academic advising that integrates course planning, degree progress, and vocational discernment. Serve as the primary point of coordination between the Honors College advising team and the university's central advising office.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate Honors College Advising Specialists, establish advising standards, ensure consistency of service, fostering a team culture of responsiveness, accuracy, and care for the whole student.
- Support and participate in co-curricular programming designed by Honors College leadership, advise on programming from a student experience perspective, coordinate with the operations team as needed.
- Serve as a highly visible, in-person presence in the Honors College, functioning as an accessible resource and institutional navigator for students. Proactively identify and resolve student concerns by brokering connections to appropriate university offices and resources.
- Communicate the mission, distinctives, and value of the Honors College to prospective students and families through participation in recruiting events, campus visits, admitted student programming, and other outreach activities as directed by the Dean.
- Collaborate with the Dean and Honors College leadership to develop and refine the overall student experience, track outcomes and satisfaction, and represent the Honors College in university committees and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree required. Graduate work in higher education administration, student development, counseling, or other appropriate field preferred.
- Prerequisites for the job: (Include experience, training, skills, certifications, etc., required)
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in academic advising, academic services, student success, or a closely related area within higher education.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, including training, mentoring, and evaluating staff.
- Experience designing and executing student programming or co-curricular initiatives.
- Familiarity with academic advising best practices, degree audit systems, and student information systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent a program persuasively to prospective students and external audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Proven track record of strong organizational skills and excellent customer service
- Superior experience with office systems and university technologies.
