This position is for a graduate assistant who primarily provides clerical support for the Director of the School of Communication & the Arts and assists in supporting the Chair of the Media & Visual Arts Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Correspond with adjunct faculty to resolve Blackboard issues and provide material support
  • Research various topics and information for the Director/Chair
  • Update textbook lists by verifying and documenting current course texts
  • Update course syllabi in Blackboard
  • Audit Blackboard courses for quality
  • Answer incoming phone calls and offer assistance to office visitors and students
  • Act as a liaison between the Director and external contacts
  • Manage student files
  • Manual labor such as lifting, pulling and pushing

Requirements:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, the internet, Blackboard, and e-mail technology
  • Proficiency in video editing, Photoshop and Publisher is preferred but not essential
  • Must possess proficient writing and editing skills 
  • Must possess a high level of confidentiality
  • An understanding of and commitment to the mission of the University and the School of Communication & the Arts
