The Field Placement Coordinator will be responsible for managing the application process for all program-related field experiences, including application review to ensure that all requirements have been met, tracked, and reported to the program committee. This position will be in direct communication with students to provide decisions for approval or denial when securing placement.

Essential duties:

  • Manage all aspects of field placements for practicum students in their initial teacher certification (undergraduate and graduate certification).
  • Seek placements in school districts and work collaboratively with district administration to assign a mentor to teacher candidates at the practicum and student teacher level.
  • Access background checks each semester for students completing field placements.
  • Maintain record of field placements for reporting purposes.
  • Ensure that each student meets the transition point requirements for the program while monitoring programs for adherence to transition points for CAEP accreditation.
  • Communicate with the School of Education (SOE) and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Chairs of potential issues in field placements.
  • Collaborate with SOE/CAS Chairs to develop MOUs with districts as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in education or related field preferred

  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and in a team setting
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure while balancing multiple demands and deadlines
