The Assistant Director of Enrollment supports the Executive Director of Admissions in achieving university enrollment goals by developing and implementing effective enrollment strategies. This role is responsible for achieving university enrollment goals by developing and implementing effective enrollment strategies. Using data-driven decision making and real-time feedback, the Assistant Director cultivates a high-performance team culture while fostering professional growth and accountability.

Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Salary: $50,000-$55,000 annually

Essential duties:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise multiple teams in Admissions, ensuring accountability to departmental KPIs and strong program knowledge across all student communications (admitted, deposited, and newly enrolled).
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, observation sessions (e.g., ride-alongs and live monitoring), and provide actionable coaching to support individual and team growth.
  • Invest in staff development through structured professional development, consistent feedback, and meaningful assignments that enhance skills and prepare team members for future leadership roles.

Program and Content Management

  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management (EM) leadership to understand academic programs and contribute to outreach strategies targeting key student populations, including support for Semester Check-In completion.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to ensure your team possesses strong program-specific knowledge and understands the student journey from inquiry through matriculation.
  • Lead strategic funnel management efforts by analyzing data trends, identifying challenges, and partnering with other leaders to develop solutions that optimize admissions outcomes.
  • Foster effective cross-functional partnerships with departments including Admissions, Admissions Evaluation, Advising, and Financial Aid to ensure a seamless student onboarding and matriculation experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Strong preference given to those with management experience in a sales/higher education setting
  • 1-2 years advising, customer service, sales and/or telemarketing/tele counseling experience is strongly recommended by not required
  • Prior experience in university advising helpful

  • Strong organizational abilities, excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills with an ability to establish rapport with a diverse team
